Amy’s App of the Week- Splash ID- April 30, 2012

Do you have the disease I have? It’s called CRS??? Can’t Remember Stuff disease!!! I can’t remember what I wore yesterday much less all the passwords, frequent flyer mileage and kids school ID stuff! Plus the older I get, the worse it is!!!! So Splash ID to the rescue! One password to open it up and then I can store login’s & passwords inside of it. It is also cloud based, so when I input something on my desktop it automatically syncs to the app on my Iphone and Ipad.

I have a lot of people question me on how secure it is. My answer, security comfort is different for everyone. I prefer it here b/c I have lost my journal notebooks with my passwords in it before (not very secure for me)-so basically do what you feel comfortable with in the long run!

Amy’s App of the Week -April 23, 2012- Evernote

evernote

Evernote is a cloud based note taking system that I use on a regular basis. So if I take notes on evernote.com on my laptop, then if I want to reference that note later and I just have my Ipad with me- no problem at all. All I have do is open the Evernote App on my Ipad, search for the note & voila’ it is there. It is like magic! Evernote function allows me to type my notes, take a photo or record audio inside ONE note- How awesome is this???

I bet you are sitting there saying, “Hmmmmmm, Amy so how would I use it in Real estate?” or maybe you are saying “So what?”

Here are some ideas I have used to maybe ignite your brain neurons-
1)If you are in a CE class or a real estate technology class, use evernote to take notes on your Ipad. Then if you want to record what the speaker is saying or take a photo of the slide that is on the screen, you can do it all inside that note.
2) Or you can use it when you are out showing to take notes on the property that you are showing. Then at the end of the day, you can copy your text and use it for your feedback.
OR you can give an extra Ipad to your clients to let them take notes on it while they are the viewing the properties, then at the end of the day you can email the notes to them for their review.

There are other uses, like typing your blog on it…But start playing with it because I bet you will love the note taking capabilties of Evernote.

Amy’s App of the Week – April 16, 2012 – Foursquare

This app is a check in app much like Facebook Places. So if I am at Walgreens, then I check in on Foursquare app. I can choose at that time to push it to my Facebook and Twitter accounts as well or just to my Foursquare friends. Foursquare is open to the public, so whatever I post on there can be seen by anyone on Foursquare. Practice safety!! I use it as a marketing tool on listiings, get coupons on there from participating retailers like Bath and Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, Walgreens, Payless, & Chili’s, plus I use it as a way to see where my friends are when I am at real estate conferences. It is also a prospecting tool! Try it out! But remember, Foursquare limits you to 1000 friends!

Amy’s App of the Week – March 26, 2012- Onlive Desktop

I had played with this app and stopped using b/c of the slow connectivity, but recently went back to it because a dear friend of mine, Tim Kinzler reminded me to try it again. This app for the Ipad only allows me to get Internet Explorer as well as edit Microsoft documents.  This is a HUGE deal for the Real Estate agents like myself that has an MLS that is flash based so it is not accessible on the Ipad.  Since so many of us are on the go with our clients, I can go to the Onlive Desktop ($4.99.month) and access Tempo (MLS) right from my Ipad…. It was wonderfully yesterday when I was sitting at Starbuckswith an elderly couple looking to buy a home in The Woodlands and I just pulled it up on my Ipad for them to view.  Con- sometimes connectivity is slow or won’t connect.

Amy’s App of the Week- IannotatePDF- March 19, 2012

I absolutely freaking love this App- it has saved my bacon a lot in my personal life and business life! I can fill out .pdf forms on the fly, sign on the screen, highlight text, add photo annotation, & rotate the .pdf. I can also remove pages from the .pdf and then email it out to my clients!!!  This app rocks!!!  (Only for Ipads)

Amy’s App of the Week – Kayak- March 12, 2012

Kayak- No it’s not a fancy name for a canoe but a cool way to search all travel sites for hotel or flights in one website or App!!!  I have used it not just to book but as a research tool for all the traveling that I do.

I have passed this app on to my clients that travel as well!

Amy’s App of the Week -Skitch February 27, 2012

This is a cool app that my buddy ,

Jennifer

turned me onto at Texas Association of REALTORS meeting in Austin Feb. 25-27th 2012.  Skitch allows you to capture an image or a website and draw on it.  Then you can email it, post to Facebook, save it or post to Twitter.  Cool ways to possibly use with my clients! I will keep you posted!

Amy’s App of the Week – Feb 20, 2012

This app rocks for anybody needing to take a payment by credit card and that person does not have a PayPal account.  Now, I did get the Squareup.com adapter to plug into

my Iphone or Ipad, until a friend told me I don’t need the adapter to still take credit card payments. I set up the account to just be for my ASH realty business so I would not be

accused of breaking Artilcle 8 of COE so I won’t be comingling funds.

Now, I am a mobile agent but that does not mean that I want to run all over the place to pick up checks or application fees. It means, I use technology to make myself more efficient.  One way I recently

used this app is to take a credit application fees from a prospective tenant. It was quick simple and worth the little bit of fee they charge versus the alternative of racing around to meet the other agent to pick up cashiers check and then depositing them at my bank.  So in my mobile world, it’s hip to be SQUARE.

Amy’s App of the Week Feb 13, 2012

Smartr Contacts XobniSmartr Contacts

Cool app  built by Xobni (which I use heavily as an add-in to my Outlook) that allows me to see my contacts face, their social networks, our exchanges as well as ranking the relevance of importance to me. I also like that it automatically scours my Calendar, email and my social networks for people I interact with and brings them into my contacts.

You must have Xobni for Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook to be able to use this app.

I have been playing with this quite a bit so it is now on my main screen!

Amy’s App of the Week – Jot Not Pro

This is one of my all-time go to Apps for about 2 years now when I need to fax/email a hard copy and I have only my Iphone with me.  I have tried other scanner programs like Phototopdf, Pocket Scanner, or Scanner Pro but I still prefer JotNotPro.  The key to any App, is find the one you like!

How I use the app….I can take pictures of our Texas lease application for tenants (which is 4 pages each) through the JotNot Pro app and then it will save all 4 pages into one PDF.  I can then just save it in my phone or email or fax out.  In order to fax now from the device, you have to have fax credits, so I have stopped using that part. Really for lack of need!

Happy Scanning!
